The Portia Learning Centre Community Outreach Program includes FREE:
* drop in clinics
* "First Year Tackle Box" for parents of newly diagnosed children with ASD
* workshops
This free program is designed to help meet the needs of families of children with autism (a formal diagnosis of autism is not necessary).
It is an opportunity for parents to ask questions about changing behaviour and improving language and cognitive skills. Information packages from Autism Ontario will be provided to parents.
Parents will have the opportunity to book ½ hour sessions with a therapist, during which time the therapist can answer questions specific to the child's needs, demonstrate effective teaching techniques to promote language acquisition, and explain and model behavioural procedures.
All are welcome! The drop in clinics are on a first come, first served basis. Families are welcome to attend as often as they like.
